First of all, I was NOT expecting this gambeson to arrive as quickly as it did. The gambeson itself is well-made, fits perfectly, and looks good. I love the mobility in the arms–it’s the first time I’ve had a gambeson that allows full range of motion. Outer shell is a tough canvas fabric sewn to some kind of quilt batting, inner shell is the same canvas. The picture the seller uses makes the gambeson look more thickly padded. My only complaint. There are zero problems with the manufacture of this item. nnI’d feel comfortable using this alone with feders, side/arming swords and other light training weapons or during light, controlled sparring. Harder sparring with thicker “competition” HEMA weapons or SCA rattan-fighting would require additional protection. Costume-wise, this would look great as part of an early period kit.
